Do It All Again: 3.0 hrs

May 29, 2020

Turns out, when I riveted on the flap brace I was looking at the wrong rivet call-out. Today I found the correct rivet callout for the flap brace and I spent the entire day drilling out over 100 rivets.

The instructions say “QUICKBUILDER’S NOTE: The W-721 must be attached to the rear spar with blind rivets. See the note on DWG 14A, Section B-B’”. If you look at drawing 14A, section B-B, there’s no note and only a single type of rivet mentioned, the LP3-4. The note I was supposed to find is in section E8 of drawing 14A and calls out “Quickbuilders use blind rivets to attach flap brace to rear spar. CR3212-4-8 at root end; MSP-42 elsewhere.” I took their word on where to look for the rivet callout and used the wrong rivets. So today was a fun exercise in drilling out pop-rivets.
