Stall Warner & AOA Probe: 8.5 hrs

June 12, 2020

Today was a few different items of miscellaneous wing work, starting with a service bulletin (SB) to reinforce the aileron mount bracket that we missed a couple days ago. It was shipped with the quick-build kit but it languished on the shelf when we assembled the aileron brackets the first time. It didn’t take long to drill out the rivets holding the brackets on and install the brace on the opposite side of the rear spar, now it’s a super solid.

Next up, I dug out the mount for the stall warner and put it together. A fairly quick job, though I had to wait for Kacy to finish work to buck the rivets through the wing. Now it’s mounted and ready to be wired when we wire the rest of the wing.

Lastly, we mounted the AoA/Pitot probe mast to the wing and and cut the hole for it through the skin. Cutting a giant hole in the skin is still one of the scariest part of the build. There’s still a bit to do before we can rivet this skin on, but it’s fun to see it start coming together.
